The stars and ‘outer space’ has fascinated us since intelligent life evolved on Earth. Theories of space and our Earth’s place in it have evolved over the centuries, and we now understand that we are part of one of many solar systems, revolving around a star, or sun. Whilst our Sun is 1,300,000 times the size of Earth, it is 300 times smaller than the largest known star. Our solar system is part of a galaxy, numerous of which exist in the universe. There are many mysteries and imponderables in the Universe and this course invites you to consider some of these.
