SAT REASONING TEST PREPARATION
This course is designed to prepare students for the SAT test. Students will become familiar with the various types of question to be expected, and will develop examination techniques and strategies to help them to score more effectively on all three sections of the test.
Build a Better Vocabulary
Develop knowledge of the roots, suffixes and prefixes that are common to many English words.
Reading for Understanding
Develop ability to read and think carefully about passages varying in content, style and approach, and to comment on these differences.
Ins & Outs of Standard Written English
Recognize and correct faults in usage and structure in sentences and paragraphs; organize and develop material in a coherent and logical manner.
Produce writing that insightfully develops a point of view with appropriate reasoning and examples and skilful use of language.
Revision of the necessary algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics and logic for the test, focusing on the areas students commonly find difficult; identification of common errors; past paper practice.
Assessment is based on a series of tests and SAT trial exams covering all three sections. Class participation and completion of private study assignments also contribute to the overall assessment.
