We are so excited that the UK government announced yesterday that schools will reopen to all pupils on the 8th of March!
Our Gap year students have been coexisting in a bubble inside their boarding houses and gardens, and going back to their bedrooms to follow online teaching since the beginning of January. Obviously, it’s not ideal, but these are strange times, and schools and universities across the world have had to adapt very quickly to the pandemic, in order to keep children learning and interested.
In two weeks time, students will be able to engage fully in class discussions and lively debate with their teachers and peers, and spend time getting to know their tutor.
The college have excellent safety precautions in place: there is a one way system throughout the building; the entire campus is continually deep cleaned, surfaces and door handles sanitised several times during the day; toilets for students and staff are sanitised twice daily and social distancing is enforced where appropriate; there are hand sanitising stations on every floor, and students and staff have to wear masks. The college have also been issued with lateral-flow tests to be used whenever necessary.
This is the first of four stages in easing the UK lockdown, and for children and their parents, it is most important!
