What happens at meal times on our summer programmes?

One of the most frequently asked questions we get about our summer programmes, is about meal times. How does it all work? Where do students eat? What do they eat? What about allergies? Here is an excerpt from the student handbook which covers everything you need to know about meal times:

Breakfast

Breakfast is served every day in the Dining Hall between the hours of 7:30 AM – 9:00 AM.

Breakfast is served as a buffet style, with both continental breakfast options as well as hot breakfast items to choose from. It’s important that students eat breakfast in plenty of time to ensure that they are not late for any tutorial arrangements.

Lunch

The lunch break is typically from 11:30 AM – 13:00 PM unless otherwise stated, and takes place in the interim period between academic sessions.

As a courtesy to fellow participants and tutors, students must return to the tutorial venue at least five minutes before the tutorial is due to commence.

Dinner

Dinner is served in the Dining Hall, except where otherwise stated on the schedule, and service typically starts at 6:00 PM. This will provide an opportunity for students to discuss the day’s events, whilst re- energising after a hard day’s work! On days where alternative arrangements have been scheduled for the evening meal, dining facilities will not be available to participants in the Dining Hall. Students will need to check the schedule to see where they will be dining.
All dietary requests will have been accounted for.

Please remember, when you apply to one of our courses, we will ask you to fill out a health questionnaire to find out whether or not the student has any food allergies. All our staff are well versed in food allergies and intolerances, from tree nut, shellfish, egg, grain and lactose to dietary choices such as gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian. Please give us as much detail as possible so that we can pass that on to the catering staff.
